Decide what the event rewards before changing the car. A racing route asks you to complete the course quickly; a drift-focused event asks for a different use of the car and its handling.
Separate Drift Mode from ordinary racing
EA's Vol. 7 update introduced a revised handling model for drift builds and Drift playlists in PVP and Free Roam. A recommendation written for that mode should not be assumed to describe every Story race or ordinary racing build.
Compare the same car on the same route
- Choose a short section with a straight, a corner and a useful exit.
- Record the current parts and handling options.
- Drive a clean baseline run.
- Change one available handling option and repeat.
Compare how easily you reach the exit, how many corrections you need and whether the route's goal improves. A more dramatic slide is not automatically a faster racing result.
For a grip-focused race
Prioritize a controlled entry and a line that lets you accelerate toward the next section. If the car rotates unexpectedly, inspect the current handling and control choices before adding more power. Learn whether the unwanted slide starts from your steering, braking or throttle action.
For a drift-focused event
Use the event's current scoring information and the applicable build. Practice initiating, maintaining and ending the slide as separate steps. Do not treat an old ordinary-race setup as a guaranteed fit for the revised drift model.
Keep the mode in your notes
Record Story or online mode, the event type, car and build. This makes advice reproducible and prevents a setup that worked in one format from being presented as a universal best handling choice.
This page gives a comparison method and the documented mode distinction. It does not supply an untested share code, exact tuning slider value or guaranteed best car.
