Free Fire Landing Guide: Drop Choices, Loot Tiers & Squad Plans
Plan the First Minute Before You Land
Your drop should answer three questions: where will you find an initial weapon, which teammates can help, and where will you move if another squad reaches the same area? A recognizable location is not automatically a good drop for every flight path or skill level.
Use the loot information shown during parachuting
Garena's OB54 notes introduced area loot-tier colors during the Battle Royale parachuting phase: red, gold and purple. Use the information actually displayed in your current playlist when comparing destinations. A higher-tier label is useful information, not a promise of a specific gun, an uncontested landing or a guaranteed win.
Make one squad decision before the jump
Garena's OB52 notes added a request-to-be-jumpmaster feature and improved suggested drop-point prompts. Where those controls are available, use them to agree on a destination. The tactical advice here is to choose neighboring landing spots that allow support without making every teammate search the same small room.
| Drop plan | Potential benefit | Risk to account for |
|---|---|---|
| Contested central area | Immediate combat practice and nearby loot choices. | You may meet an armed opponent before completing your own equipment. |
| Less contested nearby buildings | More time to collect essentials and regroup. | The next useful route or zone entry may be farther away. |
| Different corners of one chosen area | Separate loot opportunities with a shared regroup point. | Walls and distance can still prevent timely support. |
These are decision tradeoffs, not a measured ranking of map locations. Observe opponents during descent and adjust to what you can see. Do not insist on the original building if another player is already in a much stronger position to reach it.
Loot for the first encounter, then reassess
Pick up a usable weapon and ammunition before spending time comparing cosmetic or low-priority items. Look for protection and supplies when it is safe, then check where teammates and nearby opponents landed. Decide whether the squad can hold the area or should regroup somewhere less exposed.
Avoid a long detour for a preferred weapon while a teammate is isolated. Equally, do not turn a poorly equipped landing into a rushed rescue attempt with no cover. Communicate the problem and choose an approach together.
Choose the exit as well as the entry
Before clearing every building, identify a covered departure route and read the current zone timer. The best drop for one flight path may be awkward in another match. Event layouts can also change: OB54 explicitly described its anniversary replacement for Factory as temporary, so do not treat an old event map as today's permanent layout.
Continue with the rotation guide once the initial equipment is usable. Use the weapon-role guide to decide what your second weapon should add.
