Mortal Kombat 1 Meter Guide: Enhanced Moves, Kameos & Round Decisions

Before spending meter, identify the result you need: a confirmed finish, a better position or a defensive opportunity. Treat the Super Meter and your Kameo's availability as separate checks rather than a single resource.

Compare the normal and enhanced move

Use the current move list to inspect the enhanced version's cost and properties. Do not assume every enhancement costs the same amount or adds the same benefit. Official patch notes include move-specific changes to costs, block safety and follow-ups.

In practice, try the normal route and the enhanced route from the same starter. Compare damage, ending position and what remains available afterward. Spending for a clear finish is a different decision from spending for a small increase while leaving the opponent another opportunity.

Check your Kameo before committing

Verify that the assist needed for the route is ready. A sequence learned with a constantly available Kameo can fail under match conditions. Keep a shorter route you can complete while the assist is unavailable.

Plan defense with the actual state

Consult the in-game defensive tutorial for the Breaker requirements and input on your controls. Practice the escape in the situation you expect to use it, including Kameo availability. Do not reserve a resource for an option you have not checked can activate in that state.

Use a simple spending comparison

  • Confirmed finish: choose the route you can execute reliably.
  • Position change: compare the corner or spacing gained with the extra cost.
  • Unconfirmed attack: consider what happens if the move is blocked or misses.
  • Low resources: use a practiced meterless route instead of improvising an extension.

Review the decision, not only damage

After a round, note what the spend accomplished. If the same meter expenditure repeatedly leaves you without the response you need, test the cheaper alternative. These are decision guidelines, not a claim that one spending rule fits every fighter and Kameo combination.
