Choose one sequence to learn
Identify which attack or transition caused the last failure. On the next attempt, focus on recognizing its beginning and where you can safely move. Trying to maximize damage while still unable to identify the main threat can repeat the same mistake without producing useful information.
Keep a short, safe damage window
Find an opening you can use and leave reliably before extending into a longer sequence. Watch what happens after your own attack ends. If the boss repeatedly catches you during recovery, shorten the commitment or change position before replacing every item.
Separate travel speed from defensive movement
GGG's Third Edict notes introduced sprinting after holding the dodge-roll button and warned that being hit while sprinting knocks the character down. Do not assume sprinting is a safe substitute for learning an attack response. Read the current controls and behavior for your version.
Use checkpoints without assuming unlimited retries
The same notes document checkpoint travel to other checkpoints and the area waypoint. Use available navigation to reduce unnecessary backtracking. Boss attempts and endgame access can have encounter-specific rules, so check those before assuming every fight offers the same recovery after death.
Diagnose the remaining problem
After you can avoid the main sequence, assess whether damage, recovery or a defensive gap is limiting progress. Change one relevant part and test again. This guide does not invent attack timings, promise every boss is dodgeable the same way or import Path of Exile 1 mechanics into its sequel.
