Pokémon GO Account Safety: Linked Logins, Tokens & Recovery Checks

Pokémon GO account protection includes every sign-in provider linked to the Trainer profile. A strong password on one provider does not explain an unfamiliar second login method, so check both credentials and account links when investigating access problems.

Inspect linked login methods

The official security guide advises checking the game's settings for login methods you do not recognize and unlinking unfamiliar ones after a compromise. Record what you see privately, and establish which legitimate sign-in method you still control before making changes.

Treat tokens as account secrets

Never give another service your password, Google login token or cookie. Pokémon GO support says it does not ask for login credentials. An offer of free currency is not an exception, even when the sender calls the information a diagnostic token rather than a password.

Use the official app

The publisher directs players to the official App Store or Google Play app and warns that unauthorized apps interacting with game servers can expose credentials and risk account termination. It also warns against buying accounts; support does not cover problems caused by purchased accounts.

If you suspect compromise

  1. Secure the affected login provider and change compromised or reused credentials.
  2. Review the login methods attached to the Trainer profile.
  3. Note the Trainer name, last successful access, device and exact error.
  4. Use the official help center for the remaining access problem.

Keep the timeline factual. A sign-in error alone does not establish that your Pokémon have been removed or that the account was banned. Note whether you reach a different profile, an error screen or the expected Trainer with missing content; those are different support cases.

Before changing phones

Privately record which login method reaches the correct Trainer. Keep access to that provider's recovery method while arranging the change. Do not share screenshots containing tokens or one-time codes in a public request for help.
