Choose the encounter before the weapon
Konami describes switching between melee weapons and firearms according to the creature and situation. Before spending ammunition, identify whether you need to clear the path or can leave safely. A weapon choice should answer the immediate problem rather than follow a rule that every enemy must be killed.
Consider avoiding a poor fight
The official beginner guide explicitly notes that avoiding combat can be appropriate when conserving ammunition or surrounded. Check where you can go before engaging. Do not turn an optional encounter into an expensive attempt to recover the supplies already spent on it.
Keep a recovery plan
Check your available healing and the route ahead before entering another dangerous area. When you lose resources repeatedly in the same place, examine the encounter decision and positioning rather than simply consuming another item as soon as one is available.
Use the remake difficulty options
Konami confirms combat difficulty can be adjusted later in Settings. If the challenge prevents progress, consider that option before restarting your run. Puzzle difficulty is separate and cannot be changed mid-playthrough, so reducing combat does not switch the puzzle configuration.
Save with awareness
Konami documents an autosave indicator and recommends saving at an in-game save point before exiting. Confirm your progress before trying a risky route. This page avoids fixed ammunition counts, healing thresholds and ending-related claims; those require a specific route and version.
