Choose the role you want the equipment to support before beginning a materials search. A higher-looking number is only part of the comparison when the item also changes bonuses, requirements and how you fight.

Read the actual equipment entry

Compare the items you can currently equip and inspect their effects. Keep a useful spare when experimenting, and check what the next craft requires before selling materials or an earlier piece you may still need.

Turn a diagram into a shopping list

At the relevant crafting menu, list the missing requirements for the chosen item. Check the components you already own before buying or dismantling anything. Work toward one complete, usable change rather than several unfinished upgrades that consume the same budget.

Choose bonuses that fit your actions

Compare the equipment's role with the signs, attacks and defensive habits you actually use. A specialized setup is difficult to evaluate if the action it supports rarely appears in your play. Test one meaningful change in a familiar encounter.

Keep Remastered appearance rules separate

CD PROJEKT RED's September 2026 Remastered notes introduce Reforging at master craftsmen Yoana and Hattori to change appearance without changing stats. Adding equipment and diagrams unlocks appearances. Do not expect that service in every older release simply because the game title is the same.

Check durability settings

The Remastered notes also document an Unlimited Item Durability accessibility option. Advice that assumes repairs are always required may not fit a playthrough with that option enabled. Inspect the edition and active settings before treating a different durability result as a bug.

This is a gear-planning guide, not a complete diagram-location list or a current universal best set. Use the requirements and bonuses displayed in your own version for the final craft decision.
