STREET FIGHTER 6 CHARACTER GUIDE Street Fighter 6 includes fighters with very different strengths, movement, ranges and game plans. Choosing a main is easier when you start with playstyle instead of trying to identify one universal best character. ALL-ROUNDERS All-rounders generally provide a mix of: • Projectiles • Anti-airs • Reliable normals • Straightforward combos • Solid defense They can be useful for learning broad Street Fighter fundamentals. RUSHDOWN Rushdown characters want to stay close and force repeated decisions. They often emphasize: • Fast movement • Pressure • Throw threats • Drive Rush • Close-range offense ZONING Zoning characters control space. They may rely on: • Projectiles • Long-range normals • Anti-air control • Screen positioning GRAPPLERS Grapplers reward patience and close-range reads. They often threaten large damage from command grabs but may need more work to get into range. TECHNICAL CHARACTERS Some fighters use: • Special resources • Stance systems • Unusual movement • Complex combos • Character-specific mechanics They can be rewarding but may require more practice. MODERN VS CLASSIC CONTROLS Street Fighter 6 supports multiple control types. Your preferred control scheme can influence which character feels comfortable. Do not avoid a character only because another player uses a different control method. DRIVE SYSTEM Every character uses the Drive Gauge, but each fighter benefits from it differently. Learn how your character uses: • Drive Impact • Drive Rush • Drive Parry • Overdrive moves • Drive Reversal ANTI-AIRS A strong main should have anti-air options you understand. Learn them early. Stopping jump-ins makes every other part of neutral easier. TEST CHARACTERS IN TRAINING Before committing: • Walk forward and backward • Test normal attacks • Test anti-air options • Try special moves • Try Drive Rush • Try a simple combo • Test throw range DO NOT CHOOSE ONLY FROM TIER LISTS Balance patches can change competitive rankings. A character you understand well is usually more useful than a highly ranked fighter you do not enjoy. COMMON CHARACTER-SELECTION MISTAKES • Switching mains constantly • Picking only based on tournament results • Ignoring control preference • Learning difficult combos before fundamentals • Choosing a fighter whose pace feels uncomfortable QUICK CHECKLIST 1. Decide whether you prefer offense, defense or space control. 2. Test several characters. 3. Learn one anti-air. 4. Learn one punish. 5. Learn one simple combo. 6. Practice Drive Gauge use. 7. Play matches before judging the character. Street Fighter 6 continues to receive roster and balance updates, so character recommendations should be treated as version-sensitive.
