AMONG US ROLES GUIDE Among Us has expanded beyond standard Crewmates and Impostors. Modern lobbies can include special roles that change movement, information, meetings and deception. CREWMATE Crewmates work together to: • Complete tasks • Watch player behavior • Report bodies • Call meetings • Vote out suspected Impostors Crewmates win by completing tasks or eliminating all Impostors. IMPOSTOR Impostors try to eliminate Crewmates while avoiding detection. Impostor tools can include: • Eliminations • Sabotage • Venting • Deception • Manipulating meetings ENGINEER The Engineer is a Crewmate role that can use vents. This makes movement less predictable and can create useful information. However, venting can also look suspicious if other players do not know your role. SCIENTIST The Scientist can access information that normal Crewmates cannot always see immediately. Use information carefully. Having more data does not automatically reveal the Impostor. GUARDIAN ANGEL Guardian Angel gameplay allows eliminated Crewmates to continue helping surviving players. The role changes how dead players can influence the match. SHAPESHIFTER The Shapeshifter is an Impostor-side role. It can create confusion by appearing as another player. Do not accuse someone only because you saw their color or appearance near a suspicious event. NOISEMAKER Noisemaker-style abilities can provide information when something happens to that player. This can make certain eliminations more dangerous for Impostors. TRACKER Tracking abilities can give Crewmates information about movement. Use location information together with timing and witness reports rather than treating it as perfect proof. PHANTOM Some Impostor roles emphasize hiding or unusual movement. These roles reward careful timing and awareness of who can see you. JUDGE Innersloth added the Judge Crewmate role in 2026. Judge changes meeting strategy by introducing a role with additional influence during voting. Because newer roles are still being added and tuned, exact settings should always be checked against the current version. ROLE SETTINGS Lobby hosts can adjust which roles appear and how often. That means two Among Us lobbies can play very differently. Before a match, check: • Role counts • Role chance • Task settings • Player speed • Vision • Kill cooldown • Discussion time • Voting time ROLE BALANCE Too many information-heavy roles can make Impostor play difficult. Too many deceptive roles can make Crewmates feel powerless. Adjust the lobby based on: • Player count • Experience • Map • Communication style COMMON ROLE MISTAKES • Assuming every lobby uses the same roles • Forgetting lobby settings • Treating role information as absolute proof • Revealing your role unnecessarily • Ignoring how special roles change meeting logic • Using outdated role lists QUICK ROLE CHECKLIST 1. Check lobby settings. 2. Know which roles are enabled. 3. Understand your ability. 4. Do not reveal information too early. 5. Watch how abilities interact. 6. Reevaluate assumptions after meetings. Among Us continues to receive new roles in 2026, so role guides should be treated as update-sensitive.
