Black Ops 7 Objective Play: Hardpoint, Domination & Search Decisions
Read the mode before choosing the route. Hardpoint, Domination and Search & Destroy reward different decisions, even when they use the same map.
Hardpoint: make the score possible
The official mode guide defines Hardpoint around capturing and holding the active zone. Assign someone to the scoring area while teammates cover the routes into it. Chasing an opponent away from the zone helps only if it creates or preserves scoring time.
Domination: defend a useful position
Choose which objective your group can hold and reinforce. Watch the approaches rather than repeatedly entering the flag area without checking how the opponent reaches it. After a capture, use the gained position to make the next defense easier.
Search & Destroy: preserve the round plan
The official guide states that teams alternate planting and defusing with no respawns. Communicate information you can act on: a spotted route, the bomb position or an isolated teammate. A risky chase has a different cost here than in a respawn mode.
Use map-specific alternatives
The official Hijacked guide highlights Center Deck's objective importance and Engine Room as another route behind an enemy line. Compare those routes with the current fight instead of repeatedly taking the most exposed entry.
Review the action that changed the objective
- Was the scoring area occupied when it could have been?
- Did two teammates abandon the same entrance?
- Did a late rotation leave the next zone uncontested?
- Did an unnecessary duel remove a player from a no-respawn round?
Seasonal modes can alter these rules. Check the active playlist rather than assuming a special Hardpoint variant behaves exactly like the standard mode.
