Galactic Racer Multiplayer: Crossplay, Parties & Matchmaking
Cross-play and race sizes
The developer FAQ confirms PC-console cross-play, enabled by default and switchable off. Quick Race and Multiplayer Tour allow 12 racers; Quick Podrace and Podracer Tour allow eight. AI fills empty race slots.
Party size is different from race size
Parties currently support three people. A six-person party update is planned, not confirmed as released. A 12-racer event does not mean a 12-person invitation party.
Why a race may not start
Matchmaking prefers existing races with vacancies. Joining a running tour can begin in spectator mode until the next race, with catch-up resources. New races require another independently searching player: a two-person party needs a third person outside that party. The service prioritizes your region, then searches across regions.
Offline and local play
There is no split-screen. Solo Campaign, Arcade and Scenarios work offline; PC requires first-launch online authentication. Arcade leaderboards compare friends, not a public global ranking.
Before troubleshooting a party
GetCheatBeacon recommends comparing the party's selected game mode and cross-play preferences, then recording the exact error. Check the current mode screen rather than assuming a speeder event accepts podracers. If disconnected mid-race, re-forming a party may be necessary: the developer has listed incomplete reconnection as a known launch issue.
PS5 requirements
PlayStation lists PS Plus as required for online play. The solo game remains a distinct option. Check the platform's current account and subscription requirements before purchasing online access.
