Identify the version

This guide covers Arcade Archives 2 XEVIOUS 3D/G, HAMSTER’s release of Namco’s 1996 arcade shooter. The official page lists Nintendo Switch 2, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S with a September 24, 2026 release. It is distinct from the original Xevious and from older compilations that use similar names.

The game presents its vertically scrolling action with polygonal scenery, camera changes, additional weapons and new enemies. HAMSTER describes seven areas, including desert scenery and a space fortress. Those examples identify the scope, not a complete boss-by-boss route or an invented collectible checklist.

Begin in Original Mode

Original Mode is the practical place to explore the collection’s adjustable settings. The publisher documents difficulty and display settings, button remapping, rapid-fire options and multiple save files. Review those settings before copying a controller layout from another player, because remapping can change which physical button performs an action.

For a learning run, focus on surviving one section and recognizing the first situation that causes repeated mistakes. If using the collection’s save features, keep a clear distinction between practice and a competitive-mode attempt. A practice save is not evidence that every leaderboard mode accepts the same assists.

Choose the right goal

Hi Score, Caravan and Time Attack have different objectives; the companion modes guide explains the publisher’s descriptions. Trying to maximize score is not identical to completing the game as quickly as possible, and a five-minute challenge rewards different planning from a longer practice session.

This particular release does not include Network Mode. The page’s one-to-two-player listing should not be interpreted as a promise of online co-op. Use the controls configured in your own copy; a verified console button chart was not located in the reviewed public materials.
