CS2 Grenade Practice Guide: Map Guides, Reticles & Lineup Checks
Verify the Throw on the Current Map
A grenade setup should be checked on the map version and position you intend to use. GetCheatBeacon recommends learning what the throw accomplishes before memorizing a screenshot: which angle it obstructs, which route it supports and where you will be after throwing.
Use Valve's practice aids
Valve's November 2024 notes document loading map guides through Play, Practice and the Load Map Guides option. The notes also describe a grenade preview camera that can show a jump-throw result while the jump button is held. April 2024 notes document the grenade line-up reticle and configurable appearance delay for grenade types.
Record a complete setup
- Identify the exact map and side.
- Record the standing position and aim reference.
- Note the throw input and whether movement or jumping is involved.
- Observe the landing point and the effect from the area it is meant to influence.
- Repeat from the starting position before relying on the setup.
This is an editorial verification checklist. It is not a tested lineup itself. The page supplies no invented console sequence, movement macro or claim that a particular pixel reference works after every map update.
Check the purpose with a teammate
A grenade that lands in the intended location can still obstruct your own plan or leave another angle open. If practising together, ask the teammate to inspect the relevant sightline and confirm when the team should move. Do not confuse an attractive trajectory with a useful coordinated action.
Recheck after geometry changes
Map props and collision changes can affect old setups. A dated official update establishes a tool's introduction, not a guarantee that every community guide remains current. Keep the simplest reliable throws first and expand only when they solve another specific situation.
For the aiming reference itself, see crosshair setup; for firearm practice, see burst and spray comparison.
