FC 27 controls: choose your platform
Open the expanded FC 27 controller and keyboard input library → Search a move name or button, then use the platform and reference filters. The cards cover gameplay, passing, shooting, defending, goalkeeping, set pieces, tactical menus, off-ball controls and skill moves.
Source documented means the input is supported by the linked EA text or diagram; it does not mean GetCheatBeacon performed an in-game test. Unverified means the input is a community report. Cards with conflicting reports explain the disagreement.
Basic Classic-layout face buttons
| Action | PlayStation | Xbox / PC gamepad | Nintendo report |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ground pass / header | Cross | A | B — unverified |
| Through pass | Triangle | Y | X — unverified |
| Shoot / volley / header | Circle | B | A — unverified |
| Lob / cross / header | Square | X | Y — unverified |
EA’s Classic-layout Xbox screenshot directly shows the Xbox face-button assignments. The PlayStation equivalents are community-reported here. Nintendo basics are attributed community reports for Pro Controller or dual Joy-Con; do not substitute Xbox button letters. Nintendo shoulder combinations and single Joy-Con layouts need separate confirmation.
FC 27’s officially documented new run inputs
- Triggered Curved Runs: tap L1 + R1 on PlayStation, or LB + RB on Xbox-style controls.
- Pass & Follow: L1 + R1 + Cross, or LB + RB + A.
- Corner Avoidance: hold R1, or RB, during pre-delivery positioning.
EA’s official gameplay notes document these combinations and their context. Do not assume the same new mechanics exist on every generation of a platform.
PC keyboard: WASD and Arrows are separate layouts
The PC cards transcribe both layouts from EA’s official FC 27 PC charts. Search “Keyboard WASD” or “Keyboard Arrows” in the game-page library. PC gamepad entries use Xbox-style buttons and remain separate from keyboard entries.
| Action | WASD preset | Arrows preset |
|---|---|---|
| Movement | W / A / S / D | Arrow keys |
| Ground pass | L | S |
| Through pass | O | W |
| Lob / cross | K | A |
| Shoot | Semicolon (;) | D |
| Sprint | P | E |
| Power shot | J + Semicolon (;) | F + D |
| Player Lock | M | V |
Punctuation identifies the physical key rather than a Shift-modified character. Confirm the active keyboard preset and any remapping. The diagrams distinguish attack and defence; the same key can perform a different action after possession changes.
Find the controls in your own copy
EA directs players to Learn to Play → Practice Arena → pause → Button Help or Skill Moves Help. From a match, pause and open Settings → Basic Controls. That live screen is the best check for a custom layout or a disputed combination. For more context, read the skill-move guide and the separate codes and rewards guide.

Open FC 27 controller inputs → Button sequences are listed separately by move and platform.
Choose the control scheme first
EA lists Classic, Alternate, One Button and Two Button controller layouts in Customize Controls. The simplified One and Two Button schemes automate some actions and are not available for competitive online games. Use the control screen for your platform to confirm the active layout before following a button-input tutorial.
Remap around actions you can reach comfortably
Classic and Alternate allow some gameplay remapping. EA supports exchanging face-button actions with other face buttons, shoulder-button and trigger actions with one another, and movement with the tactics/mentality controls. Menu navigation also has limited remapping options. This is not unrestricted remapping of every input.
GetCheatBeacon’s practical recommendation is to practise one short sequence after a change: receive a pass, move into space, pass again and take a shot. Then test player selection and retreating on defence. A mapping that feels comfortable while attacking must also let you react when possession changes.
Analog Sprint, trigger effects and vibration
Analog Sprint uses how far the right trigger is pressed to vary sprint speed when enabled. EA lists trigger resistance and expanded vibration options for PC and PlayStation 5. Availability depends on your platform and hardware; do not assume a console screenshot describes every controller.
Compare the setting using the same movement exercise. Note whether you can start sprinting when intended and reduce speed before a close pass. Choose feedback for comfort and clarity rather than assuming that turning vibration off automatically improves results.
PC keyboard layouts and tactics shortcuts
EA Help’s current FC 27 article replaces the old Classic and Alternate keyboard layouts with WASD and Arrows. These keyboard names are separate from the controller presets. WASD uses those four keys for movement; Arrows uses the arrow keys.
- 1–5: Dynamic Tactics.
- F1–F4: Quick Tactics.
- F5–F8: Tactical Suggestions; during set pieces, Set-Piece Tactics.
- F9: Tactical Focus.
Check the selected input device
In Division Rivals, EA says the input choice comes from the last-used device saved to your profile; verify it on Kit Select. In offline or single-player modes, device switching is available through Settings → Select Sides in the pause menu. Other online modes generally retain the device used to start that FC 27 session.
EA’s general accessibility page and newer keyboard article differ in their keyboard-layout descriptions. This guide uses the dedicated FC 27 keyboard article for PC layout names. Check the live mode’s eligibility screen if the game rejects an input setup.
Test assistance without copying a universal preset
Where the current mode exposes an assistance option, record its starting value and change one option at a time. Repeat the same passing or finishing situation; check which part you control and whether the outcome feels predictable. Competitive modes may constrain settings, so confirm the active values after entering the mode.
Use the finishing guide for shot selection and the defending guide for positioning. A settings change is easier to assess when you repeat a familiar action.
