What changed in NBA 2K27?
2K’s gameplay announcement highlights step-through up-and-unders, dynamic layups and expanded dribbling customization. These tools add finishing choices; learning when a lane is open remains the first task.
A three-read possession
- Look at your spacing before dribbling. If another teammate already occupies the driving lane, move the ball or reposition.
- Use a screen or a controlled change of direction to make one defender react.
- Read the help: finish with a clear route, pass to the player left open, or reset when both are covered.

Practice a screen action
Use your current control settings to call a screen. Rehearse approaching it slowly enough to see whether the defender follows, switches or leaves space. Take the open option instead of repeating the same drive regardless of the coverage. Confirm the screen controls in your game rather than copying a button map from an older edition.
Cut down on crowded drives
If the paint fills with defenders, a difficult finish is only one option. Find the teammate whose defender helped, or move the ball around the perimeter. In a team session, agree who spaces, who screens and who cuts before several players move toward the rim together.
A ten-possession review
For ten possessions, record the shot type and whether a teammate was open before the attempt. Review turnovers separately: a pass into traffic and a lost dribble need different fixes. Change one habit at a time, such as passing earlier when help arrives.
