Use Observe, Naoe's Eagle Vision and the actual character movement options to explore Shadows without treating every route alike.

Use Observe to gather the next decision
Ubisoft describes Observe as a tool shared by Naoe and Yasuke for identifying targets, tagging enemies and highlighting loot or objectives. Pause at a useful position and decide what information you need before moving into a guarded area.
Combine Naoe's tools deliberately
Naoe also has Eagle Vision for locating enemies behind obstacles; Ubisoft explains it can be combined with Observe. Use the information to compare entrances and hiding options. Do not assume Yasuke has every scouting tool available to Naoe.
Match the route to the character
Ubisoft documents Naoe reaching higher and jumping farther than Yasuke, who is slower across rooftops. Reassess a route when changing characters rather than repeatedly attempting the same climb because it worked for the other protagonist.
Explore with a concrete purpose
Choose whether you are investigating the objective, collecting something visible or finding a safer entrance. Mark a useful next step before chasing another nearby distraction. A route is easier to resume when you remember the unresolved obstacle instead of only the last landmark.
Check an exit as well as an entrance
Before dropping into a guarded space, inspect how you would leave if discovered. Avoid committing to a path whose only advantage is a short arrival. This guide does not promise a universal safe rooftop route or import the companion-eagle scouting of other entries into Shadows.
