Dead by Daylight Generator Guide: Repair Priorities, Map Pressure & Teamwork
Generator decisions that help your team
Spread your repair effort across the map. Finishing only the easiest nearby generators can leave the final objectives clustered where the Killer can patrol them efficiently.
Keep useful pressure
When a teammate is chased, use that time to repair. Watch hook states and rescue coverage so everyone does not leave their generator at once.
Repair safely
Check escape routes before committing to a generator. Move early when danger approaches; a short rotation is often better than a preventable down.
Plan the final generators
Identify which unfinished generators are close together and prioritize breaking that cluster while the team can still spread pressure. Communicate locations rather than simply asking teammates to repair.
Match your build
Read your equipped perks: completion bonuses, joint repair effects and damaged-generator interactions have different requirements. Check current patch notes before trusting old numerical build advice.
Choose the next generator with a reason
Before starting a repair, look at nearby unfinished generators and the routes between them. Ask whether finishing this one will open the map or leave the remaining objectives close together. The easiest generator to reach is not always the most useful one to complete. Communicate a recognizable location so teammates can make a different, complementary choice.
Use a teammate's chase well
If the Killer is occupied elsewhere and your repair is safe, keep working instead of following the chase. Check hook coverage when a Survivor is caught, and decide whether you are the appropriate rescuer. Coordinating one rescue while another teammate repairs helps preserve progress without ignoring the hooked player.
Know how you will leave
Notice cover, windows and pallets before committing to a long repair. Keep enough awareness to recognize an approaching threat. If you rotate, move toward a useful position or another objective rather than circling the same unsafe generator. Return when the pressure changes instead of treating every interruption as a reason to abandon it permanently.
Make teamwork deliberate
Repairing together can finish one objective sooner, while working separately can spread the Killer's attention. Choose based on the remaining objectives, teammates' locations and immediate pressure. Avoid assuming that grouping is always best or always wrong. Your equipped perks may also affect the decision; read their current conditions rather than remembering an old bonus.
Reassess the last objectives
As generators are completed, check the remaining map again. Identify the cluster the Killer can move between easily. When the team can create pressure elsewhere, consider which repair would break that pattern. Communicate the plan and keep watching rescue needs, since a generator strategy must adapt when teammates are injured or hooked.
Measure useful decisions
After a trial, review whether you chose a helpful location, kept repairing during a distant chase and left for a rescue only when needed. Focus your next match on the weakest of those decisions. Different event modes may change objectives, so confirm the mode's rules before applying standard-trial advice.
