Sparking ZERO Ki Guide: Charging Windows, Skill Stocks & Sparking

Read Ki and Skill Stocks separately. Having enough Ki for an attack does not mean you also have the stock required for a skill or transformation.

Learn what each gauge supports

Bandai Namco's beginner guide distinguishes the Ki gauge from Skill Count, which is used by actions including transformations and skills. Its movement guide explains that Dragon Dash consumes Ki. Check the character's current move description before reserving resources for a particular action.

Charge after creating room

Try charging after you have created separation or forced the opponent to deal with an attack. Watch their response and stop if they can approach. Standing far away is not proof that you are safe to finish a full charge.

Budget for the approach as well as the attack

Choose a starting distance in practice. Move toward the opponent using the route you normally take, then check the Ki left for the next action. Repeat with a shorter movement route. This shows why an attack that was affordable before the chase may not be available afterward.

Enter Sparking with a plan

The official fighter guide describes charging beyond a full Ki gauge and spending a Skill Count for the standard Sparking entry. Later updates also added Sparking! Boost using extra Skill Stocks. Read the current training description for the version available on your platform.

Before activating, decide how you will close distance or use the opening you created. If the opponent can stall the approach, the resource spend may produce little useful pressure.

Test the character rather than assuming identical charging

Use the same fighter and starting resources when comparing routes. Character-specific skills and balance changes can alter the answer. Keep a fallback action for the point where the gauge is lower than expected instead of repeatedly pressing a move you can no longer afford.
