Sparking ZERO Team Guide: DP Rules, Transformations & Switching

Read the battle rules before selecting the team. DP Battle and Team battle are not interchangeable, and a team's legality is determined by the rules currently shown in the lobby.

Confirm the DP budget

Bandai Namco's update notes document selectable 10, 15 and 20 DP totals for specified non-ranked battle and training settings. Do not assume those choices describe every ranked playlist. Use the displayed budget and character costs for the mode you are entering.

Choose a core before filling slots

Begin with the fighter you can use reliably. Add teammates that solve a concrete problem, such as an approach or matchup you struggle with. A team of unfamiliar characters is difficult to evaluate even if the selection screen suggests a strong combination.

Plan forms and fusion deliberately

The official fighter guide explains that fusion requires compatible teammates and replaces the pair with a fused fighter; they cannot revert to the original pair afterward. Consider whether that is the team structure you want before relying on fusion as a routine mid-match choice.

Practice the switch situation

Check the switch indicator, create a situation you can recognize and bring in the next fighter with an intended first action. The July 2026 system update added Linked Blast for an immediate switched-in Blast. Read the current lesson for its activation rather than assuming every switch automatically performs it.

Compare teams under the same conditions

  • Use the same battle type and DP limit.
  • Keep customization and room rules consistent.
  • Record the version and platform when following an older team suggestion.
  • Measure whether each teammate actually solves the problem you selected them for.

Keep one straightforward switch plan and one fallback if the intended action is unavailable. Prefer a team you can explain and operate over a supposed universal best team copied without its mode or rules.
