God of War Ragnarok Exploration: Favors, Chests & Return Trips
Choose an exploration goal before leaving the main route: a Favor, an equipment reward or a chest puzzle you can now solve. This keeps a detour connected to the challenge you are preparing for.
Use Favors as structured detours
Santa Monica Studio says optional areas contain valuable equipment and that quests do not expire. You can return after pursuing the main story instead of feeling compelled to finish every side path immediately.
Inspect the space beyond the obvious path
Look above and below the route, especially around ledges and mechanisms. When you find a chest puzzle, identify its symbols or linked objects before activating things in a random order. Keep the goal and the current obstacle separate in your notes.
Recognize an unavailable interaction
If you cannot use a mechanism with your current equipment, record the location and what it looks like. Return when a newly acquired tool appears relevant. A marked return trip is more productive than spending resources trying unrelated attacks on the same barrier.
Make Niflheim a deliberate visit
The developer's progression guide highlights the Raven Tree's reward chests and the nearby Training Arena. Check accumulated rewards and use the arena to practice a newly learned option before taking it into a difficult fight.
Turn rewards into a usable build
After exploring, inspect the new equipment and abilities rather than leaving them unread in the inventory. Compare their purpose with the setup you already use. Test one meaningful change so you can tell whether the detour improved the part of combat that was limiting you.
This is a spoiler-light route and reward plan. It does not replace a named chest solution or claim that every locked path is reachable on the first visit.
