Helldivers 2 Stratagem Guide: Squad Coverage, Callouts & Safe Placement
Build a squad plan before choosing four familiar icons. Identify what the mission needs: a response to armor, sustained crowd control, protection for an interaction or a reliable way to resupply.
Distinguish the tools
PlayStation's cadet guide groups Stratagems into Eagle, Orbital, Backpack, Support Weapon, Defensive and Vehicle categories. Requisitions unlock Stratagems through Ship Management. Read the current individual description for its limits and use.
Cover a missing job
Inspect the squad's selections before adding another tool for a role already covered. Duplication can be intentional, but it should answer a mission need rather than leave the group with no response to a different threat.
Plan the placement
Look at the throw's destination, the approach to the objective and where teammates are moving. Friendly fire is part of Helldivers 2. A strong strike or sentry can be harmful if it occupies the route the squad needs to cross.
Call the effect before it arrives
Use a brief location and action call so teammates can react. If the throw goes wrong, warn the squad rather than assuming they saw the marker. Keep reinforcement and supply placement useful to the regroup, not only close to the current fight.
Evaluate the result
- Did it solve the target problem?
- Did it preserve a safe objective route?
- Was another teammate's tool wasted on the same target?
- Was the squad ready for the next threat afterward?
Exact activation sequences and cooldowns belong to the chosen Stratagem's current controls and description. This page does not invent a universal code or assume one loadout suits every faction and objective.
