Read the skill for the battle you play
Century Games explains that heroes in an expedition squad activate their expedition skills, including probability-based skills. Inspect those effects before spending solely on a portrait you like. A useful upgrade should support the mode and squad you actually use.
Compare a specific improvement
Choose the hero or gear piece contributing to the present lineup and read what the next upgrade changes. Concentrating on a useful improvement is easier to evaluate than raising every available hero a little without a clear purpose.
Do not confuse gear systems
The official gear section describes Ascension as improving existing gear and Imbuement as a later stage following ascension to Legendary. These are not interchangeable names for leveling a newly recruited hero. Inspect which system the blocked upgrade actually belongs to.
Check the unlock conditions
Century Games ties advanced ascension access to server age and gear development. Read the live requirement on your server rather than spending toward an advanced guide you cannot use yet. A feature shown by an older kingdom may not be available in a newer one.
Test the lineup after investment
Review the same kind of battle before and after the change and look at what improved. Do not treat an isolated victory as proof of a universal best hero. This guide does not invent generation rankings, current unlock days or a compulsory paid upgrade path.
