Use Phasmophobia equipment and the journal to distinguish confirmed evidence from an incomplete or misleading test.

Phasmophobia Ghost Evidence: Confirm Results Before Eliminating Candidates
Start with the evidence rules
Read the selected difficulty before eliminating candidates. Kinetic Games documented Nightmare as withholding one evidence type. A missing result on a reduced-evidence contract cannot be treated the same way as a completed test on a full-evidence setup.
Do not mark freezing from breath alone
The Ascension notes distinguish visible cold breath from thermometer-confirmed freezing evidence. Use the thermometer and current equipment instructions rather than treating the visual breath effect as sufficient proof.
Use the current evidence names
Ascension renamed Fingerprints evidence to Ultraviolet and documented salt footprints in relation to that evidence. Match an older guide to the present journal terminology before applying it. A guide using an older name may be describing a real mechanic with an outdated label.
Repeat a weak test before crossing it out
Ask whether the tool was used where activity occurred, whether the relevant conditions were met and whether observation lasted long enough to establish a result. A brief test that showed nothing is not automatically proof that the ghost lacks that evidence.
Keep behavior separate from confirmed evidence
Record a behavior as an observation until you can connect it to a current, supported ghost trait. Avoid identifying a ghost solely because it seemed aggressive or quiet in one short period. Read the current journal and patch notes for trait changes; this guide does not invent a permanent all-ghost evidence table.
