Call the threat precisely
Tell the crew where the suspected or visible boarder is and what you actually saw. Keep a possible approach separate from a confirmed player aboard. A useful call lets another player respond without everyone leaving the same critical task.
Prepare supplies before contact
Rare's Pirate Academy explains food as a recovery supply and wooden planks as ship-repair material. Keep those available before a confrontation begins. Check your personal supplies and the ship stores rather than assuming a crate elsewhere on deck makes you immediately ready.
Assign the response without abandoning the vessel
Agree who handles the close threat and who continues the urgent ship task. The right split depends on your crew size and current condition. If a player changes jobs, call that change so an important responsibility does not silently become unassigned.
Avoid a chase that removes the defense
Before following an opponent away from the ship, ask what you would leave behind. A boarder can create confusion even without winning every exchange. Preserving a working vessel can matter more than completing a revenge chase.
Reset the crew after the exchange
Check who remains aboard, which supplies were spent and what needs attention before resuming the previous plan. This is a crew-response guide, not a claim that any weapon combination guarantees a win. Weapon damage, ladder timing and special-item effects require current, specific evidence.
