Evaluate the whole kit
Nintendo describes a main weapon paired with a set sub weapon and special. Compare all three before choosing. Two kits can create different opportunities even when the main weapon feels familiar; do not assume you can freely attach any sub or special to it.
Test the working range
Practice attacking at several distances and note where you can land useful hits consistently. Compare the time spent reaching that distance with your ability to leave danger. A longer-reaching option is not automatically easier if you struggle to aim or reposition with it.
Use the sub for a specific job
Nintendo gives examples of subs contributing movement routes or ink coverage. Ask what your own kit lets you do before a fight: create a route, pressure a position or support an approach. Check how much ink remains afterward so using the sub does not leave the main weapon unavailable when needed.
Plan the special and refill
Nintendo notes that activating a special refills the ink tank. Understand the special itself before relying on that interaction: choose a position where you can use it effectively, then plan what to do when normal weapon use resumes. Do not activate purely to solve an ink problem if the situation makes the special wasteful.
Adjust gear to a measured problem
Nintendo identifies Ink Saver Main and Ink Saver Sub as reducing the relevant ink consumption. Consider them when that specific shortage repeatedly limits your play. Check current descriptions and updates for exact effects. This guide does not assume old weapon counts, balance values or one permanent best kit.
