Super Mario Odyssey Power Moon Guide: Hints, Captures & Return Trips

Use a focused search instead of sweeping an entire kingdom without a lead. Decide whether you are progressing the main objective or returning to find optional Power Moons.

Start with the kingdom's current goal

Power Moons fuel the Odyssey. Check the progress the ship currently requests, then explore nearby routes and challenges. You can return for a broader collection sweep rather than treating every optional Moon as required before moving on.

Ask for a hint when the search stalls

Nintendo's adventure guide points players to Talkatoo and Hint Toad for Moon advice. Treat a hint as a question to investigate: identify the landmark or action it suggests, then examine that part of the kingdom.

Look for a useful capture

Mario's capture ability is a central part of Odyssey. When a path seems blocked, inspect the creatures and objects nearby before assuming it requires a difficult normal jump. Learn what the available capture can do and where that ability might fit the environment.

Turn a challenge into smaller steps

  1. Identify the movement or timing the challenge asks for.
  2. Practice the first section without rushing the whole attempt.
  3. Choose a clear landing or stopping point.
  4. Join the sections once each is repeatable.

For a minigame, learn the timing before chasing a record. Nintendo lists kingdom-specific activities such as jump rope, races and volleyball; they test different skills, so success in one does not supply the method for another.

Keep an unfinished-Moon list

Record the hint, landmark and the part you could not complete. On a return visit, start with that question rather than repeating every route you already explored. If a hint is unclear, inspect a different nearby approach before assuming the Moon is unavailable.

This is a spoiler-light search method. It is not a complete numbered Moon list, and it does not invent exact locations or claim that every challenge is available at the start of a kingdom.
