# Gears of War: E-Day Versus Multiplayer Guide Gears of War: E-Day brings competitive 4v4 battles alongside the larger Horde Siege experience. Versus is designed around coordinated movement, cover usage, weapon control and teamwork. ## Ranked and Social Playlists Versus includes two major playlist categories. **Ranked** provides structured competition with mode-specific ranks and skill ratings. Players complete placement matches before receiving a Skill Division and Rank. **Social** offers an alternative to the Ranked progression structure. The official developer overview distinguishes these playlist systems. Exact available modes and map rotations should be checked against the current game menus because seasonal updates can change the selection. ## How Skill Division Works Skill Division represents your matchmaking skill rating relative to other players in a particular playlist. It is separate from Rank Rating. Skill Division can change as the competitive population and player ratings change. Your visible progression is therefore not necessarily identical to your matchmaking rating. ## How Rank Rating Works Rank Rating tracks advancement through the competitive ladder. According to the official multiplayer overview, Rank Rating changes with match outcomes and performance. Players gain Rank Rating through victories and lose it through defeats. Each Ranked playlist maintains its own competitive progression. ## Combat Training Combat Training provides a place to practice mechanics before entering competitive matches. The official multiplayer overview confirms support for four-player cooperative training. Use training sessions to experiment with: - Control layouts and sensitivity - Weapon combinations - Cover movement and positioning - Team communication - Aiming and weapon handling ## Practical Versus Fundamentals **Use cover intelligently.** Avoid exposing yourself unnecessarily when moving between positions. **Coordinate with teammates.** Four players working together can defend approaches, support teammates and concentrate pressure. **Understand the map.** Learn available cover routes, elevation changes and weapon locations where applicable. **Practice weapon handling.** E-Day's updated gameplay includes projectile behavior and weapon-specific aiming mechanics. **Adapt to the playlist.** Ranked progression rewards consistent team performance, while different multiplayer modes may emphasize different objectives. These are general strategy recommendations, not guaranteed winning tactics. ## Before Playing Ranked Complete training, become familiar with movement and cover, and select equipment you can use consistently. Review the current playlist rules in-game before entering competitive matchmaking. Official source: Gears of War: E-Day Multiplayer Deep Dive.
