Can you save while GTA V cheats are enabled?
Yes. Rockstar’s official support article says saving remains available while cheat codes are enabled. It also says achievements are temporarily disabled. Saving successfully is therefore not proof that an achievement can be earned in that same session.
How to reset the cheats
Rockstar says reloading a save or rebooting the console resets all cheats and returns the game to its previous state. Entering the same code again usually disables that effect, but Rockstar explicitly says this does not always work. Use the documented reset method rather than assuming that re-entering a code cleared every effect.
Why a cheat can be unavailable
Some effects are unavailable in particular gameplay situations. The game can display a message saying the cheat cannot be activated at that moment. Rockstar also says starting a mission disables off-mission cheat effects. A rejected entry or an effect disappearing at mission start does not necessarily mean the code itself is wrong.
Separate experiments from progress
GetCheatBeacon recommends keeping a clean manual save before experimenting. Give the experiment its own slot if you decide to save during it. This is a practical way to preserve a known starting point, rather than relying on memory to distinguish two similar files.
- Before experimenting, identify the save containing the progress you want to keep.
- Try one effect at a time so you know which change you are observing.
- Do not treat a successful save as an achievement-status indicator.
- Before returning to achievement-focused play, use Rockstar’s reset procedure.
- Check which file you loaded before continuing important story progress.
Troubleshoot the situation before stacking codes
If an effect appears to do nothing, note where you entered it and whether a mission had begun. Repeatedly combining effects makes it harder to tell whether a restriction, a reset or a mistaken input caused the result. Return to a clear starting state before testing again.
