What does Story Mode cover?
SEGA describes the single-player campaign around the Entertainment District, Swordsmith Village and Hashira Training arcs. That is distinct from the Infinity Castle character content sold for VS play. A pass containing an Infinity Castle fighter should not be advertised here as proof of a playable Infinity Castle story campaign.
For a first session, decide whether you want narrative progress or a focused battle practice. Keeping those goals separate makes it easier to evaluate a guide: a story objective, an offline match and a character-specific combo card answer different questions.
Select the exact VS version
The roster includes versions of the same character with different labels, along with Academy variants and downloadable characters. Choose the matching version before using a move or combo example. A shared surname or familiar costume does not establish that every variant uses an identical route.
The separate controller section documents shared actions; character cards contain the available fighter-specific examples. The reviewed official PS and Switch manual material does not turn an untested mapping for another platform into a verified input. Use your own button prompts when selecting a different layout.
A useful practice routine
Pick one documented sequence, check its resource and battle-state conditions, and practice a short transition before trying the full route. Pay particular attention to airborne steps, landing, simultaneous presses and charged actions. These details are part of the command rather than optional decoration.
When a route fails, identify the first transition that did not behave as expected instead of repeatedly restarting the whole sequence. This is editorial practice advice, not a guarantee of a particular damage total or online result. Online VS also depends on the current patch and your platform’s access requirements.
