Candy Crush Special Candy Guide: Match Shapes & Useful Combinations
Recognize the Shape Before Making the Match
King's support guide lists distinct patterns for special candies. Look at the entire shape before swapping: a four-candy line and a five-candy line create different tools.
| Special candy | Creation pattern | Basic effect |
|---|---|---|
| Striped Candy | Four in a row or column | Clears a row or column when matched. |
| Wrapped Candy | Five in a T or L | Blasts the surrounding area. |
| Color Bomb | Five in a straight line | Combine with a regular candy to clear that color. |
| Fish | Four in a square | King describes swapping it with an adjacent candy to clear candies and obstacles. |
Choose the effect your target needs
GetCheatBeacon recommends looking for line access when an objective lies along a row or column, and area clearing when several nearby obstacles are the issue. A Color Bomb changes the board by removing a color, which may create new options; it does not remove the need to read the resulting position.
Combination opportunities
King documents Striped plus Wrapped as a larger line-clearing combination, and two Color Bombs as a board-wide clear. Read what remains afterward: a large animation should not be mistaken for proof that every layer or objective is finished.
Do not sacrifice every immediate chance for a bigger combo
Estimate how many moves you need to bring two special candies together. If the board is constrained or the remaining move count is low, using a useful effect now may be more practical than chasing an uncertain setup. Conversely, avoid triggering one half of a combination accidentally when a clear next swap would join them.
This is a mechanic reference and editorial planning guide, not a guaranteed solution for every level. See move planning for evaluating the setup cost and blockers for interactions that affect the result.
