Name the upgrade before spending
Choose the item or crafting result you want and inspect its present requirements. Keep enough resources for that concrete improvement before experimenting with unrelated drops. A full material tab is not the same as having the ingredient the next recipe needs.
Distinguish the 3.0 crafting systems
Blizzard describes the Horadric Cube as an expansion crafting station unlocked during the Lord of Hatred campaign, with recipes using materials from several activities. Check access and the displayed recipe rather than assuming every crafting recommendation is available to a base-game character.
Use the filter without losing track of materials
The official 3.0 explanation says the Loot Filter affects gear visibility but not non-gear items such as crafting reagents, gems or currency. Changing a gear rule therefore does not solve every material-management problem. Inspect your actual inventory and recipe separately.
Compare the preview before committing
Read what the selected operation can change, the listed cost and any condition shown for that item. Avoid repeated rerolls merely because the previous attempts were expensive. Decide in advance what result you are prepared to accept and when to stop spending.
Review the real shortage
If crafting stops, determine whether you lack an ingredient, the relevant unlock or a suitable item base. Check the current activity reward information before farming. This page does not repeat a 2024 salvage percentage, promise a fixed return or treat an old Masterworking cost table as current.
