Escape from Tarkov Inventory Priorities: Access, Task Items & Raid Risk
Choose Tarkov pickups by whether they support the raid, a concrete task or a useful return, while keeping stash safety distinct from secure-container rules.

Define the raid purpose
Decide whether the current trip is for a task, a material or general supplies. Before taking another bulky item, compare it with that purpose. A valuable-looking pickup is not useful if it prevents you carrying the thing the raid was meant to recover.
Keep usable items accessible
The community Tarkov Wiki distinguishes pockets, tactical rig, backpack and secure container, and documents quick access for eligible pocket or rig items. Put the recovery or equipment you intend to use where the current interface supports that action.
Separate survival retention from task eligibility
The wiki describes secure-container contents as retained on death, with item restrictions. Do not turn that retention statement into a promise that a carried item automatically meets every task or trading condition. Read the requirement for the actual item and activity.
Make a small, deliberate loot decision
Check the object's use, available space and the time spent searching before extending the stop. Moving on with the material you came for can be better than reorganizing the whole inventory in an exposed place.
Recheck after extraction
Sort the result into an actual kit, project or sale rather than keeping everything by default. The detailed source is community-maintained; this page does not publish an unverified value-per-slot ranking, old secure-container acquisition table or guaranteed item spawn.
