Learn the position names
The official site identifies Clash Lane, Jungler, Mid Lane, Farm Lane and Roamer. Learn what your selected position is expected to contribute before locking a favorite hero. A hero class and a lane assignment answer different questions; do not assume a class label alone settles the team composition.
Prepare a familiar choice and a backup
Use a small pool you can explain: how each hero approaches a fight, what its escape options are and what makes it vulnerable. Pick a backup that lets you fulfill the assigned job when the preferred choice is unavailable rather than improvising an unfamiliar role during the draft.
Enter the match with a lane plan
Identify the first safe position to farm or support and what information would make you leave it. Communicate a missing opponent before following them into an unseen route. A rotation should create a specific advantage, not merely imitate a teammate moving across the map.
Judge progress by useful conversions
After a successful exchange, ask whether the group improved a lane, threatened a structure or gained space for the next objective. Repeated fights that leave the same map state may not solve the problem your team is facing.
Review one ranked decision
Choose a lost rotation, unsafe lane extension or poorly supported commitment to examine. Separate the decision from the final score: a strong mechanical play can still begin from a bad position. Read current in-game rules for rank eligibility and rewards; this guide does not promise a win rate or a permanent top hero.
