Pokémon Violet Exploration: Miraidon, Catching Trips & Pokédex Goals
Choose one discovery goal for a Pokémon Violet trip: a new area, a target Pokémon or a story objective near a place you want to explore. Use Miraidon's available movement to connect the route rather than wandering until supplies run low.
Choose a destination and a catch goal
Violet takes place in Paldea and uses Miraidon as the ride partner. Identify a landmark near the area you want to inspect, then decide what you will look for on the way. Keep a short list of missing Pokédex entries instead of trying to solve the whole collection in one outing.
Look beyond the path in front of you
The official Pokédex guide calls out Pokémon flying high or swimming underwater that can be difficult to bring into catching range. Scan the environment from a useful viewpoint before assuming a species is absent. Use the current in-game encounter controls and the movement available at your stage of progress.
Plan food around the activity
The official picnic guide distinguishes Meal Powers. Encounter Power increases the likelihood of finding wild Pokémon, while Egg Power affects finding Eggs in the picnic basket. Read the exact type and effect of the meal you choose; a meal selected for one activity should not be assumed to improve every other one.
Use a practical trip checklist
- Carry enough Poké Balls for the targets you intend to catch.
- Have a healthy party that can handle the area or leave it safely.
- Record useful landmarks for a return trip.
- Mark inaccessible terrain rather than repeatedly forcing a route Miraidon cannot yet manage.
Review what the trip accomplished
After returning, check which entries or routes remain unresolved. If you repeatedly miss a target, change the search location or the conditions you are checking before spending more supplies. Treat the official species and Pokédex guidance as the reference for special encounter requirements.
For the broader three-story route plan shared by both games, see the Scarlet exploration guide. This page focuses on preparing a catching and collection trip in Violet.
