Royal Match Beginner Guide: Targets, Power-Ups, Boosters & Moves
Royal Match is a match-3 puzzle game where every level has specific targets and a limited number of moves. Dream Games' official Help Center confirms that winning requires completing those targets before the available moves run out.
Read the Targets First
Before making the first move, look at the required targets.
Your goal is not simply to clear as many pieces as possible.
Every Move Should Support the Level
A move has more value when it:
- Hits a target.
- Creates a power-up.
- Combines power-ups.
- Opens access to blocked areas.
Moves Are Limited
Dream Games confirms that each level has a fixed number of available moves.
If the targets remain unfinished when moves reach zero, the attempt fails unless you use a supported continuation option.
Do Not Make the First Match You See
Scan the board for stronger opportunities before committing.
Match Three
The basic mechanic is matching three or more same-colored items.
Larger or specially shaped matches can create power-ups.
Power-Ups
Royal Match includes several core power-ups:
- Rocket.
- TNT.
- Propeller.
- Light Ball.
Rocket
Rockets clear in a line.
They are useful when an important target is spread across a row or column.
TNT
TNT clears an area around its position.
Use it when several blockers or objectives are clustered together.
Propeller
Propellers can help target board elements while also clearing nearby space.
They are especially useful when a remaining objective is difficult to reach directly.
Light Ball
Light Balls interact with matching colors across the board.
Before activating one, look for an opportunity to combine it with another power-up.
Power-Up Combinations
Dream Games explicitly documents that combining power-ups creates larger effects.
When two power-ups can be brought together safely, the combination may solve much more of the level than activating each separately.
Do Not Trigger Every Power-Up Immediately
A power-up may become much stronger if one or two moves can position another power-up beside it.
Work Where the Targets Are
Clearing large empty sections looks productive but may consume moves without advancing the actual objective.
Open Restricted Areas Early
If blockers prevent access to a large section of the board, removing those blockers can create more useful matches later.
Think About Cascades
One match can cause pieces above it to fall and create additional matches.
When several moves appear similar, consider which one changes more of the board.
Pre-Level Boosters
Dream Games documents pre-level Boosters including:
- Rocket.
- TNT.
- Light Ball.
These let you begin with additional power on the board.
Do Not Use a Booster on Every Level
Save them for boards where the extra starting advantage solves a real problem.
In-Game Boosters
Current official support documents in-game Boosters including:
- Royal Hammer.
- Arrow.
- Cannon.
- Jester Hat.
In-Game Boosters Do Not Consume a Normal Move
Dream Games specifically states that using these supported in-level Boosters does not reduce the move count.
Use Targeted Boosters Late
A targeted tool is most valuable when:
- Only one difficult target remains.
- The board is otherwise nearly solved.
- The Booster can directly prevent a failed attempt.
Coins
Coins can be earned from multiple supported activities and used for:
- Extra lives.
- Extra moves.
- Boosters.
Do Not Spend Coins Automatically After Every Failure
Before buying additional moves, check whether the remaining board is realistically solvable with a small extension.
Lives
Lives determine how many failed attempts you can make before waiting or obtaining additional lives.
Repeatedly restarting with no change in strategy can waste them quickly.
Study the Failed Attempt
After losing, identify the actual reason:
- Did a blocker remain too long?
- Did you miss power-up combinations?
- Were too many moves spent away from the targets?
- Was a Booster actually justified?
Castle Progression
Dream Games confirms that completing levels earns Stars used to renovate and upgrade areas of the castle.
This means puzzle completion drives the larger progression loop.
Events
Royal Match includes rotating events that may provide:
- Coins.
- Boosters.
- Other rewards.
Do not hard-code one event strategy because available events change over time.
Beginner Routine
- Read the targets.
- Check the move count.
- Look for power-up opportunities.
- Open blocked areas.
- Combine power-ups when useful.
- Keep moves focused on targets.
- Use Boosters only when they create real value.
- Use coins carefully on close attempts.
Common Beginner Mistakes
- Ignoring the targets.
- Making the first available match automatically.
- Activating power-ups too early.
- Using Boosters on easy levels.
- Spending coins after hopeless attempts.
- Repeating the same strategy after multiple failures.
Bottom Line
Royal Match rewards move efficiency. Read the targets, create and combine power-ups, open restricted areas early and preserve Boosters and coins for situations where they can turn a near-win into a completed level.
