One owner can invite a co-op partner

EA’s Friend’s Pass allows a player who owns Split Fiction to invite another player to join online without buying a second copy. The partner installs Friend’s Pass on their platform and accepts the owner’s in-game invitation.

Set up the session

  1. Decide which player will launch the owned full game.
  2. The other player installs the official Friend’s Pass.
  3. Check the account and platform requirements for online play.
  4. Use the in-game invitation and have the partner accept.

EA also offers a trial through Friend’s Pass when neither player owns the game. Continuing through the full adventure requires one player to own it. Do not confuse downloading the trial with owning the full game.

Before buying another copy to fix a problem

GetCheatBeacon recommends comparing what each player is actually launching: full game or Friend’s Pass, signed-in account and platform. Record any exact error. A failed invitation does not establish that both players need to purchase the game.

Check online requirements

EA’s setup help lists the relevant console subscription and account requirements. Friend’s Pass removes the need for a second game purchase; it does not remove every platform’s online requirements. Read the current instructions for the systems you use.

A simple troubleshooting order

  • Confirm the owner is launching the full game.
  • Confirm the partner installed the correct official pass.
  • Check the intended accounts and friendship invitation.
  • Read the cross-play settings when systems differ.
  • Keep the exact error available for the appropriate support page.

GetCheatBeacon advice: stop changing both players’ accounts and settings at the same time. Correct one identified issue, resend the invitation and compare the result. This keeps a small setup problem from turning into an unnecessary purchase or account change.
