Rain, Lasswell and the crystal journey
The official story introduces Rain and Lasswell as Grandshelt knights investigating trouble at the Earth Shrine. Their encounter with Veritas of the Dark leads into a journey concerning the remaining crystals. This is the publisher’s opening premise, not an attempt to reveal an undocumented ending or map the entire campaign.
The character reference separates Rain, Lasswell, Fina, Veritas of the Dark, an officially unnamed mysterious woman, Nichol, Lid, Jake and Sakura. These are revealed story figures; a profile’s presence is not a guarantee that every one is a playable party member in every chapter.
What roles are actually described?
Square Enix identifies Fina with white magic and archery, Nichol with strategy, Lid with engineering and her mechanical chocobo Mechabo, and Sakura with magical prowess. The mysterious woman is deliberately unnamed in the official material, so this page does not assign her a speculative identity.
Jake’s profile specifically names Coin Toss and Gamble Shot. Those names can be listed as special abilities without inventing an input sequence, resource cost or damage formula. A narrative role such as commander or engineer should not automatically become a fabricated battle passive.
Story cast and Visions are different
The battle-system description separately introduces Visions as FINAL FANTASY echoes that contribute skills and abilities. Do not assume the nine character profiles are a complete list of every Vision or summon. Use the game’s actual unlock and ability information when building a party after release.
The full game is scheduled for October 22, 2026 at this review point. Character art and the short profiles are drawn from Square Enix’s own site. The reference records announced information and clearly named skills; it is not a claim that every character’s complete release move list has been tested.

Rain — Grandshelt knight
Grandshelt airship commander and the central protagonist.
Lasswell — Grandshelt knight
Rain’s childhood companion and deputy airship commander.
Fina — White magic and archery
An amnesiac traveler with white-magic, archery and esper-communication skills.
Veritas of the Dark — Story antagonist
An armored member of the Sworn Six who threatens the crystals.
Mysterious Woman — Official identity unrevealed
An unnamed offensive-magic user traveling with Bahamut; her identity is intentionally withheld.
Nichol — Strategist
An Olderion strategist from a family that guards the Water Shrine.
Lid — Airship engineer
A Dirnado engineer who travels with her mechanical chocobo, Mechabo.
Jake — Rebel leader
A Zoldaad rebel leader whose profile names Coin Toss and Gamble Shot.
Sakura — Mysidia sage
A powerful sage whose youthful appearance conceals an undisclosed age.
