Ocarina of Time Switch 2: Release Date & Remake Features
A new Nintendo Switch 2 version
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time launches November 5, 2026 exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo describes a rebuilt version of Link's adventure, with overhauled visuals, orchestral music, voiced cutscenes and expanded dialogue. It is distinct from playing the Nintendo 64 original through a classic-game service.
What changes in this version?
- Movement: new jump and run commands, with improved camera control using the Right Stick.
- Ocarina: use traditional controls or perform a learned melody into the system microphone.
- Progress support: Threads of Time records story progress and the next objective.
- Monster rematches: the Hall of Fallen Heroes provides information and repeat battles against defeated monsters.
- Companion features: ZELDA NOTES adds records, location challenges, an ocarina tool and quizzes.
Story and equipment
Ganondorf seeks the Triforce, and Link's journey crosses two ages as he becomes the Hero of Time. Young Link uses equipment appropriate to his size, while Adult Link can wield the Master Sword and further tools. Navi accompanies him, and Princess Zelda seeks to protect Hyrule.
Before you buy
Check that the listing identifies Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo lists a single-player experience with TV, tabletop and handheld play. The current estimated download size is 27 GB; estimates can change before launch, so verify the live store listing and your system's available space.
The Zelda anniversary hardware arrives on a different date from the game. Do not infer that every branded console or accessory includes a game copy. The announced Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo arrive in 2027, after this game's scheduled launch.
Prepare your first session
Update the system, inspect the actual control prompts and decide whether you prefer motion or button aiming. Returning players should learn the remake's movement changes before relying on Nintendo 64 muscle memory. The guides below separate confirmed new features from older-version walkthrough assumptions.
