Zenless Zone Zero: dodge, assists and team rotation
Learn the difference between an ordinary swap, a timed assist and a Chain Attack before chasing advanced builds.
Practice a small combat loop
Start a training fight by using a short basic sequence, watching the enemy’s wind-up and dodging deliberately. When you understand that timing, add the Agent’s Special Attack and compare how it behaves when enough energy is available for the enhanced version. Do not hold every button at once: it becomes harder to identify whether a miss came from range, a recovery animation or a failed defensive reaction.
Use defensive opportunities deliberately
An ordinary character switch and an assist opportunity are not the same instruction. Follow the combat tutorial’s visual cues and pay attention to the incoming Agent’s position. If an enemy repeatedly catches the replacement character, slow down and identify the attack before trying to counter it. A safe dodge can be better than forcing an unfamiliar assist. Test both directions of switching so your rotation does not depend on finding one member by repeatedly cycling.
Prepare for the damage window
Build toward a coordinated burst rather than spending every resource as soon as it appears. Consider which Agent wants to act while an enemy is stunned and which teammate should prepare that moment. Chain Attack prompts interrupt the ordinary rhythm; read the available selection rather than pressing the same attack key out of habit. Against groups, check whether a target has moved out of range before committing an expensive move.
Improve the team you own
Use the current character tutorial and skill descriptions as the authority for unusual kits. Anomaly-focused teams and teams built around a conventional damage window do not always want the same timing. If your damage feels low, first check whether your support effects are active and whether the intended damage dealer receives the opening. Upgrade one weak link, repeat the same encounter, and compare the result. This produces a useful change you can evaluate without requiring a complete replacement squad.
