Apex Legends Team Guide: Legend Pool, Roles & Mode Differences
Build a Squad Plan Before Picking a Meta Team
EA's Legend-pool guide suggests three purposes for your personal pool: a comfortable main, an option that helps create pressure, and a pick that adds value to the squad. That is a useful way to broaden your choices without trying to learn every Legend at once. It does not mean every team must contain exactly one of three prescribed classes.
Check the mode's selection rules
EA distinguishes Core from Wildcard: Core squads cannot pick the same Legend twice and use class perks, while Wildcard permits duplicate Legend picks and handles selection differently. Do not copy a composition from one mode and assume its class benefits or selection rules transfer unchanged.
| Question for your squad | What the answer should establish |
|---|---|
| How do we start a fight? | Who identifies the target and what the others need before committing. |
| How do we leave? | A retreat route rather than three players choosing different exits. |
| What happens after damage? | Who can hold space while a teammate recovers. |
| What information are we missing? | Whether a familiar information or space-control pick helps more than another unfamiliar aggressive option. |
Choose a pool you can execute
The table is GetCheatBeacon's planning advice. If two teammates already prefer pushing forward, the third should understand how to support that plan or tell them when it is unsafe. A supposed perfect composition is less useful when nobody knows the ability timings. Practice one alternative before swapping to it in a difficult ranked session.
Evaluate the coordination, not just the names
After a match, ask whether abilities actually helped each other. Did the squad follow an entry, use the information available, or abandon a defensive position one at a time? Keep the same basic plan long enough to identify the coordination error. This is not a current win-rate ranking, and no Legend trio is presented as universally strongest.
