Check How Your Apex Match Starts

EA's current Ranked help describes two starts: Dropship, where a Jumpmaster chooses the landing, and Drop Zone, where squads receive a point of interest. Drop Zone matchmaking depends on the lobby's higher-ranked population; the loading screen identifies the style. A landing guide that assumes every Ranked match uses the same flight decision is incomplete.

For a Dropship start

The following is GetCheatBeacon's planning advice. Agree on an area, then identify nearby landing spots rather than sending three players into one small loot pile. Watch where other squads are heading. If the intended spot is already heavily contested, communicate an alternative early enough that the squad can still land together.

For an assigned Drop Zone

Use the assigned area to plan the first equipment pickup and a meeting point. Assignment is not a reason to ignore enemies approaching from a neighboring area. Avoid spending the whole opening searching for a preferred attachment while a teammate has already crossed toward a fight.

First-minute problemDecision to make
One teammate has no usable weaponRegroup or share a useful pickup before forcing a coordinated fight.
Two squads land close togetherIdentify the nearest covered position and a route away from a bad initial angle.
The team has enough essentialsChoose the next position instead of automatically clearing every loot container.

Make the first fight fit the equipment

Use what the squad actually found. A player with a comfortable longer-range option and a player still looking for ammunition are not ready for the same push. Ask for a specific missing item instead of saying only that the loot is bad. A clear request lets teammates judge whether the delay is important.

Review the drop separately from the duel

After an early elimination, identify whether the failure happened before shooting: separation, a late destination change, a missed weapon or an exposed approach. That gives you a decision to change next match. No map point is declared a permanent best drop, and this page does not guarantee a particular weapon spawn.

Use the Ranked guide for fight selection after looting and the Shield Core guide for decisions around death boxes.
