Give the Ultimate a Job Before Using It

GetCheatBeacon recommends naming the problem an ultimate is meant to solve: creating space, helping the team survive pressure, enabling an engagement or stopping a specific enemy action. The hero's current ability description is the starting point. This page does not publish a damage table or rank ultimates by an unverified patch-specific tier list.

Check whether the team can use the opening

An ultimate can affect the fight without a teammate being ready to follow. Look at positions and availability before committing a resource whose value depends on coordinated action. Blizzard's communication documentation provides Group Up and related controls; use clear signals rather than assuming everybody noticed the same opportunity.

A commitment check

QuestionWhy it matters
What should change?A visible goal makes the result easier to evaluate.
Who can follow? The opening may be wasted if the relevant teammates cannot act.
What is already committed?Another ultimate may duplicate a job the first one has already solved.
What if the enemy retreats?Decide whether gaining space already meets the objective.

Do not measure only eliminations

A resource may have value through objective access or survival rather than personal eliminations. Conversely, an impressive animation does not prove it changed the result. Review the team's available actions before and after the use. Ask whether a simpler tool could have solved the same problem or whether waiting removed the opportunity.

Track decisions without inventing enemy timers

Use observed enemy actions as information, but do not convert a guess into a guaranteed ready-time for an opponent. Charge rules, hero effects and mode differences can matter. This guide intentionally avoids an unsourced formula for predicting every enemy ultimate.

Use the team-fight guide to connect resource use with an engagement and positioning to check whether the plan is executable.
