Modern Warfare 4 Progression: Camos, Prestige & DMZ Levels
Compare main levels, DMZ levels, Operator Dog Tags and Weapon Prestige before choosing a reset path.
Modern Warfare 4 Progression: Camos, Prestige & DMZ Levels
Four different things can level up
Modern Warfare 4 tracks main Player Levels, DMZ Player Levels, individual Active Duty Operators and individual weapons. A requirement that names one of these should not be substituted with another. Start by checking which counter the reward screen actually specifies.
Main Player Level and two Prestige paths
Main progression reaches Level 55 before the Prestige decision. Activision describes 10 Prestige levels followed by 1,000 Prestige Master levels. At each new Prestige, you can choose between Classic and Regular rather than assuming the initial choice is permanent.
- Classic: resets level-based unlocks and Create-a-Class progression, with a 20% XP boost, a Permanent Unlock Token and extra cosmetic rewards.
- Regular: restarts level progression while retaining level unlocks and Create-a-Class content.
Read the confirmation screen before selecting a path, especially if a current loadout depends on a late-level item.
Weapon levels and Weapon Prestige
Weapon XP unlocks attachments. At a weapon's maximum level, optional Weapon Prestige opens a separate journey. The official progression reference says the weapon returns to Level 1 and most attachments relock, with Apex and blueprint-attachment exceptions. Shared attachments on other weapons and cosmetic customization are preserved. This detailed reference is more useful than the shorter early overview that describes a generic full reset.
Camos are not cheat codes
Military Camos are tied to weapon-level milestones and must be developed per weapon. Special and Mastery requirements should be checked on the individual weapon. Some Warzone information is reserved for Season 1, so launch Multiplayer and DMZ material should not be presented as a complete future Warzone checklist.
DMZ has its own progression
DMZ Player Levels run to 70 and unlock FOB stations and rewards. Operator Dog Tags develop through their own 18 Trait Points, and Operator Prestige is separate again. DMZ XP contributes to the main player track, while XP from Multiplayer does not raise your DMZ level.
Launch notes also say Player and Weapon Prestiging are unavailable while matchmaking is actively searching. Leave the queue before troubleshooting an apparently missing Prestige option.
