Hades II combat: Attack, Special, Cast and Omega decisions

A stronger run starts with choosing a damage plan that fits your weapon and leaves you room to react.

Learn the unmodified weapon first

Use a safe early encounter to compare Attack and Special range, recovery and movement. Do not assume the weapon behaves like Zagreus’s equipment from the first game. Notice which action lets you hit while staying out of retaliation range. When choosing a boon, ask whether it improves an action you are actually using; several impressive effects on an unused move will not create a coherent run.

Create space with Cast

Cast is part of Melinoë’s toolkit, not simply another attack to press after everything else. Use its area deliberately to manage approaching enemies and create time to reposition. Test its interaction with your selected boons instead of assuming every version behaves identically. Against a boss, place it where the enemy will be during your damage opportunity, while keeping a safe route away from the next attack.

Commit to charged actions carefully

Omega actions involve a larger commitment than a quick tap. Read their current Magick cost and effect, watch the space around you and avoid beginning a charge just as an enemy is about to connect. A reliable short punish can outperform a charged move that repeatedly costs you health. When selecting Magick support, compare it with how often you actually use these actions rather than taking a regeneration effect that never supports your plan.

Review the run before adding difficulty

A useful loadout has an ordinary damage option, an answer to crowded rooms and a way to handle the boss’s unsafe periods. If a fight goes badly, identify whether you lacked damage or were attacking at the wrong time. Practice dodging a full sequence without trying to retaliate, then add a short punish after the recognizable recovery. Increase optional difficulty after you can explain why the current route succeeds; the resulting challenge will be easier to adjust intelligently.
