The Sims 4 Needs Cheats: Make Happy & Control Need Decay

Use testingcheats interactions to improve a Sim’s needs or pause decay, then distinguish that from resetting a stuck Sim.

The Sims 4 Needs Cheats: Make Happy & Control Need Decay

Open controller inputs →

Make a Sim happy

Enable testingcheats true, Shift-click the intended Sim and choose the Make Happy needs interaction. Controller equivalents are in the console controls guide.

Freeze or restore need decay

From the Sim’s Cheat Need interaction, choose Disable Need Decay. Choose Enable Need Decay when you want it to resume. Freezing needs preserves the current state, so inspect it before doing so.

Use one controlled change

  1. Choose the Sim you intend to affect.
  2. Inspect their needs before opening the interaction menu.
  3. Apply the change once.
  4. Observe the result before repeating it.
  5. Restore ordinary decay when your scene or test is finished.

This is our suggested checking routine. It keeps a household experiment easier to understand than changing every Sim at once.

Needs and stuck behavior are different

If a Sim remains unresponsive, improving their needs may not address the underlying problem. EA provides a separate reset-Sim support article. Use that workflow for a stuck Sim instead of repeatedly changing needs.

Before returning to normal play

Review which Sim you changed and whether decay is enabled. A small note about the change helps when returning to a save later. Console players should read the testingcheats achievement rule before enabling it.
