Reviewed October 24, 2026: GTA VI remains scheduled for November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The October 15 Launch Trailer is now part of Rockstar’s current media library.

GTA VI Setting Guide: Vice City, Leonida and Rockstar's Confirmed Scope

Grand Theft Auto VI returns to Vice City, but Rockstar's current official material makes clear that Vice City is only part of the wider setting. The game takes place across the state of Leonida, with several distinct locations now named and shown by Rockstar.

Vice City

Vice City is the best-known location in GTA VI and remains a major center of the game's world.

Rockstar describes it as a neon-lit part of Leonida with criminal, nightlife and entertainment connections running through the larger story.

Leonida

Leonida is the state containing Vice City and the game's other officially revealed areas.

Rockstar's story description says the criminal conspiracy surrounding Jason and Lucia stretches across the state.

Leonida Keys

The Leonida Keys are one of Rockstar's confirmed regions.

Jason's official background is directly connected to the Keys, where Rockstar says he became involved with local drug runners.

Brian Heder is also associated with the Keys through his smuggling and boat-yard operation.

Port Gellhorn

Port Gellhorn is another officially named destination in Rockstar's current GTA VI materials.

Rockstar has published dedicated screenshots and location material for the area.

Ambrosia

Ambrosia is also part of the officially revealed Leonida map.

It appears as its own named destination in Rockstar's People & Places and screenshot collections.

Grassrivers

Grassrivers is a separate Leonida area officially shown by Rockstar.

Its inclusion reinforces that GTA VI's setting extends well beyond urban Vice City.

Mount Kalaga National Park

Mount Kalaga National Park is another confirmed destination.

The presence of a named national-park region further demonstrates the environmental variety Rockstar is presenting across Leonida.

A State Rather Than a Single City

The officially named destinations currently include:

  • Vice City.
  • Leonida Keys.
  • Port Gellhorn.
  • Ambrosia.
  • Grassrivers.
  • Mount Kalaga National Park.

What This Confirms

Rockstar's published location pages confirm that GTA VI is designed around multiple named parts of Leonida rather than a Vice City-only setting.

What It Does Not Confirm

The presence of an area in promotional material does not by itself prove:

  • Every building can be entered.
  • Every road is accessible.
  • Every shown activity is player-controlled.
  • Every area has a particular mission type.

Avoid Fan-Made Map Assumptions

Community mapping projects can be useful for discussion, but they should not be presented as an official Rockstar map unless Rockstar itself publishes matching information.

Official Screenshots

Rockstar has released dedicated screenshot groups for the named regions, providing direct visual confirmation that these places are part of the game's officially presented world.

Story and Setting Connect

The locations are not merely scenery.

Rockstar's character profiles tie people such as Jason and Brian directly to parts of Leonida including the Keys, while other characters are associated with Vice City's music and criminal scenes.

Release Date

Rockstar currently lists GTA VI for November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

GTA VI returns to Vice City inside a much broader state setting. Rockstar has officially named at least six major Leonida destinations, giving a clearer picture of the game's geographic scope while still leaving exact map boundaries and unrevealed areas for Rockstar to confirm.
